ESTA application for Chilean

The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) allows nationals of designated member participants to travel to the United States for business or tourism purposes for up to 90 days without obtaining a visa. On February 28 of 2014, Chile was designated as a member of the Visa Waiver Program, and beginning March 31, 2014, Chilean nationals may travel to the United States under the program. Here we explain what is necessary for obtain ESTA for Chilean.





As we said before you can be eligible to visit the United States without a visa under the Visa Waiver Program if you are going for business, tourism (during 90 days more or less) or transit. Also you need to have an onward or return ticket through an airline company or commercial cruise. Please note that you must have e-passport (i.e., passports with an integrated chip containing the information from the data page), issued in Chile since September 2013. If you are currently have a valid visitor’s visa, this is not necessary to apply for ESTA.

Before travelling to the United States, all holders of a Chilean passport visiting or transiting in the United States under the VWP must apply for an ESTA, preferably at least 3 days prior to travel. Travellers who do not have a valid ESTA before travelling may be denied boarding, experience delayed processing or be denied admission at a U.S. port of entry. If you wish to work, study, or stay more than 90 days, you are not eligible for entry under the VWP and you must obtain a visa before travelling. Also please note that if you have been denied an interior visit or has been arrested or convicted of a crime, has a criminal record, or if within some of the categories defined by law as inadmissible to the United States, cannot travel under the Visa Waiver Program and you must apply for a visa.
