What is ESTA?
ESTA is an online application system developed by the US government to pre-screen travelers before they travel to the United States. All passengers traveling under the Visa Waiver Program are obliged to have an approved travel authorization before traveling to the United States by sea or air.

What is the Visa Waiver Program?
The Visa Waiver Program allows travelers from certain countries to travel to the United States for business or pleasure, for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa.
Is a ESTA travel authorization a visa?
No, an approved travel authorization is not a visa. If you already have a valid visa for the United States, you do not need to apply for a travel authorization.
